Open up job routes for 16 to 18 year olds.
Youth poverty is real across Bury. A lot of young people want to work, earn and support themselves, but access to part-time jobs and first-step roles is too limited.
These are the core issues I am taking forward: work, opportunities, sport, activities, the environment and fairer access to information. Each one needs pressure, follow-through and a visible route into action.
The priorities are straightforward. And each one will be worked on.
Youth poverty is real across Bury. A lot of young people want to work, earn and support themselves, but access to part-time jobs and first-step roles is too limited.
Young people should not have to hunt around different places for jobs, volunteering, advice and support. One clear platform would make access fairer and simpler.
Football matters to young people across Bury, but too many spaces are poor quality, heavily used and not kept properly.
Netball should not be an afterthought. Better courts, stronger programmes and fairer access matter just as much here.
There is not enough engaging, accessible activity for young people across Bury. That leaves too many people with fewer ways to stay social, active and involved.
Where people live matters. Pollution, litter and neglected spaces affect how areas feel and how much pride people take in them.
Some support already exists, but too many young people simply do not hear about it clearly or in time.
The goal is a borough where young people are more supported, less boxed in by poverty, better connected to opportunities, able to take part in sport and activity, and heard properly when they speak up.
